Going back in my Pacheco, today is a short line: Teixeira. This line only goes back a couple of generations in the town of Estrela, Ribera Grande, Sao Miguel Island, Azores.
The oldest ancestor is Andre Teixeira. He was born ca 1650 in Estrela. Andre married Maria da Ponte, also a native of Estrela. They had at least four children: Barbara, Manoel I, Manoel II, and Sebastiao. Barbara is my ancestor. Barbara is the second wife of Tome da Costa. I wrote about Tome’s line in the post titled “Surname Saturday: da Costa of Estrela“.
This line connects to my Ferreira Grota’s. It then connects to my Great Great Grandfather, Jacintho Pacheco, of Fenais da Vera Cruz. His Mother was Jacintha Rosa Ferreira.
With Barbara, the Teixeira surname dies out–at least for now. I do not know the surnames of all her children as yet. And, with Azorean families, you can never assume that the children and the parents will even share the same surname.
