From time to time, I like to remind folks that we have a thriving Portuguese Hawaiian genealogy group on Facebook. All you have to have is a Facebook account, then join the group. The group is set to private due to spammers, but all those seeking their family history are welcome to join.
As of now there are over 1700 members in our little group. They range from a variety of research experience levels and have ancestors from every island.
I have an ongoing series teaching folks how to research their Portuguese Hawaiian roots. It is an infrequent series at best.
Come check us out, post about your ancestors, reply to others. You might just find a new cousin!

Hi Pam, thank you for your question. I’m not really sure as I don’t have any roots in Maui. Your best bet would be to research the family in the census to see if their is a plantation associated with them, then work through city directories. If you are a member of the Portuguese Hawaiian group on Facebook, post your question. You never know. There might be another member with an ancestor in the same place.
Yes I’m a member thanks for your response
