This week I’ve selection a Portuguese English dictionary as our Friday Free Ebook. In talking with different Portuguese genealogists, we sometimes lament that it would be nice to have a language dictionary from the era we are translating from. While modern dictionaries are helpful, they sometimes miss minor spelling differences and variations in definition. Being able to refer to a dictionary from the early 1800s when looking at a document from that era would be useful.
With this in mind, I have selected “A Dictionary of the English and Portuguese Languages in Two Parts: English and Portuguese, and Portuguese and English” By Anthony Vieyra. A New Edition. Lisbon : Rolland, c1860.
You can download the book for free at Google Books. Click the “GET IT NOW” button. The book will be added to your Google Ebook Library. Once you’ve added it to your library, you can access it from the online library to read online or to download to a device.
