Matthew A. Kelly was the son of Martin Kelly and Catherine Dolan. He was born in San Francisco ca. 1862. He was the youngest son of Martin and Catherine.

Some notes: I was unable to find Matthew in the early records. In fact, I’ve had trouble finding any on him between 1890 and his death in 1918. Maybe he left San Francisco to find work elsewhere. It’s a mystery (one of many!)
It’s interesting to note that Matthew’s address was given as San Francisco Hospital in 1916 and 1918. He died of pulmonary tuberculosis. I wonder if he was a patient and worked as the gardener to pay the bills. It’s possible he lived there as gardener and then contracted tuberculosis. I guess I’ll never know.
Sometime between 1910 and 1916 he switched parties. At least now I know where he was in 1910. My gap is shortening.
