Doubly Awarded :)

kreative_blogger

I have only been online briefly the last two weeks as my Dad prepared for his cataract surgery (it went well, by the way).  You can imagine how surprised I was to find that I was nominated twice for the Kreativ Blogger award!

Thank you to Carol, over at Reflections from the Fence and Karen, over at Genealogy Frame of Mind.  I am honored that both of you found my blog of interest.

As a recipient of this award, I have to list seven things about myself and nominate four bloggers for the award.  Here goes nuthin’…

1.  I have been working on my family three for 19 years and I’ve been obsessed every since I put pen to pedigree chart.

2.  I was once a volunteer chat host for AOL’s Golden Gates Genealogy Forum and later GenealogyForum.org

3.  My sweet 3 legged Lab, Sierra, passed away in July.  I am now the owner (or owned by) a 7 month old Jack Russell Terrier named Misha.

4.  I am a proud Aunt of 4 ages 7 to 22.

5.  I am disabled with arthrits.

6.  I love reading.

7.  I am the collector of binders filled with genealogy data and fear one day I will be crushed by them during an earthquake.

I spend way too much time reading blogs.  My nominees for this award are:

Elyse’s Genealogy Blog

The GeneaBloggers Blog

Small Leaved Shamrock Blog

Footnote Maven

I will “wear” my award proudly :)  Thanks again!

And the Winner is…

It’s time for the iGene Awards!  AGFH proudly proclaims:

“iGene Awards, The Best of The Best! It’s Academy awards time… time for the Academy of Genealogy and Family History, aka AGFH, to honor their best blog posts of 2008″

According to the rules I get to nominated five of my own articles and since I’m my own award committee, I pick the winners!  So, without further ado, these are the winners of my very own iGene Awards for 2008:

Best Picture - The award for the best old family photo that appeared on my blog in 2008 goes to…

We have a tie!  Both photos in my post “Look!  It’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!”  These unusual photographs of relatives posing in automobiles in a studio are quite simply the best for 2008!

Best Screen Play - The award for the family story that would make the best movie goes to…

The Sinking of the Liscome Bay This is the true story of Charles Lassalle who lost his life when the Liscome Bay was sunk in World War II.  Actors for this film have not yet been determined.  It’s been rumored the Shia LeBeouf has been courted to play Charles Lassalle, while secret negotiations have been taking place to get John Wayne to come back from beyond the grave in one last role as Charles’ commanding officer.

Best Biography – The award for the best biographical article for 2008 goes to…

My Little Ol’ Grandma As a child, I thought I knew everything about my quiet, stoic Grandmother.  Boy, was I wrong!

Best Documentary – The award for the best informational article about a place, thing, or event involving my family’s history in 2008 goes to…

Take Another Look at the Census:  Your Female Ancestors You may think that you’ll never learn anything about your female ancestors.  I used the census to fill in the gaps about my Great Grandmother, Maria (de Braga) Pacheco.

Best Comedy – The winner of the best funniest story for 2008 goes to…

When Turkeys Sleep Mix a city girl with sleeping turkeys and you get pure hilarity!

I’d like to thank the Academy…oh, wait, that’s me!

Hope you enjoy these award winning articles!
