With all the crazy stuff going on this week, I forgot that this today marks the anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire.
This is the first year that no survivors of the tragedy took part in the ceremony at Lotta Fountain. Each year participants pay tribute. Then a fire hydrant that continued to supply water when the others failed was painted with gold paint, as it is every other year.
This is my tribute to the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. It is a collection of family stories taken from the recollections of my Grandmother, her sister, and her cousin. It’s interspersed with genealogy research and stories found in the newspaper. I hope you enjoy it!
